A little bit about The Whinnies!

The Whinnies! Best of Equine Film is an annual festival of films that advocate, illustrate, celebrate and inform the horse/human partnership. Films range from short to feature-length, narrative to documentary. Each are made with innovation, creativity, integrity and ingenuity from courage, commitment, passion and soul. In addition to showcasing the message and talent of filmmakers who love horses, our vision is that the festival will also fund future films that tell the horses' stories.

The Whinnies! debuted at the Napa Valley Film Festival in 2011 and have screened as a "track" of that amazing celebration of film, food and wine each year since. In 2012 the films also traveled to Pepperdine University in Malibu and Jackson Hole, WY. The Whinnies! are a production of Flag Ranch which supports a herd of horses in Northern California representing most breeds and plights.

Harry & Snowman

Dutch immigrant Harry DeLeyer journeyed to the United States after World War II and developed a transformative relationship with a broken down Amish plow horse he rescued from the glue factory. Harry and Snowman went on to win the triple crown of show jumping, beating the nation’s blue bloods and becoming rags to riches media darlings. They appeared twice in Life Magazine and on the popular TV show, To Tell The Truth. During the 1959 National Horse Show in NYC, the pair even appeared on television with Johnny Carson. DIRECTOR Ron Davis. Run time: 84 min.
